New Blood: An Anthology

Short Stories Collection – Ler Devagar Publisher

April 3rd – Sunday – 5pm

Author and editor Pedro Lucas Martins challenged 15 (still) unknown Portuguese horror authors to participate in an anthology organized by him and the“Sangue Novo: Uma Antologia”. – Edited by Pedro Lucas Martins – Ler Devagar (Lisbon). From the comical to the macabre, from the strange to the supernatural.

“The Sangue Novo anthology arises from the realization that there are not enough horror works, especially anthologies, in Portugal, and that those that do exist do not bet exclusively on new authors. Understandable, since this literary genre is a risk, and a greater risk will be if it is joined by new authors, of unknown talent.

This work intends to take that risk; to be a pioneer, so that others will follow in its footsteps. All fifteen authors in it have a voice of their own, full of a potential that is fulfilled. All of them are promising harbingers of change in this literary category.

It took less than a year from idea to realization, but nothing was rushed. It is a project with clear intentions: to offer a stage for the stories of these authors, to promote national literary horror, and that these two intentions may combine and contribute to a paradigm shift in relation to the genre.” SANDRA HENRIQUES

Conta-me como não foi

Rui Cardoso • Edição Casa das Letras

 Dia 6 Abril – 4ª Feira – 17h

Opening-April 1st – Friday – 18h

How do you apprehend the soul of an event that changes every year, always screens new films and respects the “Zeit Geist” by following the artistic tendencies of an age?

Since 1981, the year of the first edition of Fantasporto and the beautiful painting by José Manuel Pereira, co-founder of the festival, till today, the official poster runs the many interpretations of what the cinema is and what imagination means. Looking at them today, 40 years later, we can see that they have captured the modernity and aesthetics of the time, later scattered in the streets, in the catalogue, in the hand guide, the image of a great festival in a small country, travelling the world till the hands of hundreds of directors, producers, distributors. This exhibition shows the first and the latest official posters, some naive, others artistic, some simply drawn, others painted, others already totally digital, with diverse themes but always impressive. A graphic language that expressed itself afterwards in the streets, in the façades of the theatres where the festival has been held, always telling us that the love for the cinema can also be clear in a beautiful poster.
obedecendo às tendências artísticas da altura?
