The past comes back to haunt the chief investigator, Onihei. He receives a visit from Omasa and refuses to accept her as a spy, despite his tenderness for her. But Omasa doesn’t give up. When she becomes a spy for a gang of thieves to save the life of a witness to Jingoro’s cruelty, she gives Onihei information to avoid another bloodbath. But in the world of medieval Japan, the fight between the powerful and the weak is not easy.
