After having to leave the house where he used to livewith his daughter, a man finds work in a remote place where a woman takes in orphans and where frequently the police raids looking for fundamentalists. Separated from his daughter and in an environment he doesn’t know, the man seeks explanations for everything strange that happens around him. Another film by Woo Ming Jin, one of the few Malaysian filmmakers to have a regular presence at the biggest festivals in Europe, and already awarded at Fantasporto 2023 for “Stone Turtle”.
Woo Ming Jin
Director and producer from Malaysia , with 6 international prizes, is best known for “The Elephant and the Sea”, Special Award of the Jury at the Turino Film Festival, “Woman on Fire Looks for Water” (2009), which won a Mention at the Cannes Festival, “Stone Turtle” (2022) awarded the FIPRESCI top prize at Locarno Festival and in Fantasporto (Special Mention of the Fantasy Jury) and “The Tiger Factory” (2010) also screened at Cannes and Special mention of the Jury at the Tokyo Film Festival.
