High-school friends Chih-ting and Chia-lin face turmoil when Chun- Hsueh, feeling rejected, spreads rumours that they are lesbian. Chia-lin’s sister, a teacher, transfers to their school to hide her own relationship issues and tries to separate the girls upon hearing the gossip. The strain leads to an accident, forcing Chun- Hsueh to consider her actions. Released in the early 1980’s when homosexuality was emerging in public discourse, the film sparked significant discussion and remains a poignant exploration of friendship, identity and social pressure.
