In the presence of the director

Gaua– Paul Urkijo Alijo- 92’ (Esp) – horror, feitiçaria- v.o., leg ingl e port

Kattalin is a young woman married to a violent husband who lives in a rural area dominated by fear of forest creatures, God, and the Inquisition.  Wanting to escape her husband, she finds herself involved with three women who tell her horror stories, from the priest who hunts a hare, to the possessed friend, to the monster in the woods. Ancestral stories of isolated peoples with hard lives, fearful in their relationship with nature. An excellent example of the quality of Spanish cinema, especially in terms of direction, cinematography and the performance of the lead actress, Yune Nogueiras. Director Paul Urkijo is one of Fantasporto’s discoveries with the short films ‘Dar Dar’ (2020) and ‘El Bosque Negro’ (2015) and has already won 11 international awards.
